EVWD - A Message About the Los Angeles Wildfires and Response

East Valley Water District (District, EVWD) would like to express deep gratitude to firefighters, emergency personnel, law enforcement, and volunteers who are working to contain and battle the wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Our thoughts are the with the families who have lost their homes, the communities that have been impacted, and those that have lost loved ones.

One of the District’s Core Values is Partnership within the water community and local agencies. To assist impacted utility agencies, EVWD responded to a request for mutual aid and deployed staff to help restore water services to the Altadena community. We will continue providing this type of support and other essential resources to the utilities and residents affected by this tragedy.

Within the service area, the District actively monitors and maintains a system of over 3,000 fire hydrants and works to maintain steady water production throughout the system. Fire hydrant flushing efforts continue being a top priority to not only ensure proper operation, but also to maintain water quality standards throughout the system. The District continues to take proactive measures to maintain a state of active preparedness for our community.

As part of our commitment to provide resources throughout the service area, the District is offering an informational workshop to assist customers creating resilient, water-friendly landscapes. Residents are invited to join the February 8th workshop that will focus on techniques for reducing fire hazards by creating defensible landscape spaces.
